About

Rob Leahy has been in and around the rug industry since 1967– that’s 43 years for those who are counting.  In the early 1970’s he was the buyer for a chain of large US department stores, similar to Macy’s.  During that time, Rob traveled to Iran, India and other rug-making countries, purchasing and arranging for shipment of rugs to his stores.  After that, he designed and manufactured rugs for a major US textile company, establishing the product line and marketing plan for the United States.  In 2003, he retired from his management career and returned to the retail rug business by purchasing a retailer in Charleston, SC.

Re-naming the business Fine Rugs of Charleston, Rob moved the company to an Upper King Street location in 2005. Then in 2008, he moved the store to its current location at 1523 Meeting Street.  He and his staff are committed help Interior Designers provide the highest quality, most well priced floor fashion available to their clients.

Rob consults designers, assisting with their client’s color, pattern and durability needs.  The selection at Fine Rugs of Charleston is updated and very current– strong on the softer, subtle colors popular with Interior Designers.  In the commercial area, Fine Rugs specializes in creating warm and welcoming customer contact areas for businesses.
